Would you like to join the Grizzly Chess club? Read the steps listed below and submit the online application at the bottom of this page. Your responses will be sent to the private Grizzly Main Forum. QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify to be a member of the Grizzly Chess Club you are required to collect a total of seven votes from individual Grizzly members who are prepared to vote in your favor. Club members will be looking for certain character traits. Among these are that you be: a nice person, respectful, talented in chess, have a positive attitude and be able to show loyalty, respect and love for the Grizzly Chess Club and its members. Qualifying votes will consist of a minimum of four regular members and a maximum of three panel members.

Please take note that due to the many characters that pretend to be Grizzly Chess Club members, we are sensitive about those that use the Grizzly nic without being a sanctioned member. Please defer use of your Grizzly nic until you are a confirmed member!!!

Thank you for your interest in becomming a Grizzly. Best of luck getting all your votes!!

* PLEASE NOTE: All minors aged between 7-13 years of age must ask their parents permission before becoming a member of the Grizzly family and must send a legal authorization form giving us permission to post their photographs. Minors who do not get authorization from their parents may not enter the club.

AQUIRING VOTES

A proven strategy to collect qualifying votes is to play against Grizzly members at World Gaming Center.com (WGC). Registration is free. You can also use this information to judge whether our club is right for you. Others have found success by appointing campaign managers...Grizzly Club members willing to help promote your campaign to collect votes.

CREATE A BIOGRAPHY

After you procure the qualifying votes, you will need to create your official Grizzly Member Biography. One of the panel members can help you do this if you wish. Your biography should consist of a list of your votes and a photograph if you have one, and a paragraph or two about yourself).

Send your biography to GrizzlyChess@hotmail.com so it can be posted on the Grizzly Member List Site. You will then be added to the applicant site as a "GrizzlyCub"!

*Please note, if you do not provide your biography, you will not be admitted to the Grizzly Club as a full member. It is up to you how much information to supply, but the required minimum is a true account of age/gender/location. Entries describing personal likes and dislikes, favorite foods, films, chess ability, rating and strategem are types of non-intrusive and yet interesting information. Your fellow grizzlies will wish to know who you are and what you're about. Your biography information is the foundtion for the development of true friendships

GRIZZLY CUBS

The probationary or "GrizzlyCub" period of thirty days has been adopted for candidates. This provides current Grizzly members an opportunity to become aquainted with the new member . During the probationary period candidates will be known as "GrizzlyCubs". Members will be given the opportunity to meet and approve the membership of new Family members. This will also serve as an orientation period. It will be the responsibility of a qualifying voting panel member to mark the passage of the probation period with the aid of our tracking program. If during the 30 day probationary period a candidate has been disqualified they will be officially notified by a panel member.

AQUIRING VOTING PRIVILEGES

New Grizzly Members are awarded voting priviliges after the initial 30 day probationary period and additional 4 months of membership are completed . Voting is both a privilege and a duty. REGULATIONS

As a member of the Grizzly Chess Club you are part of something extremely precious and rare, a truly friendly and supportive group of eclectic, free-thinking individuals with one thing in common: Love and respect for its fellow members!

No Chess Cheats
No chess cheat programs are allowed, no hack programs are allowed, if known to use such programs it will result in an automatic ban from the club. Chess Cheaters are NOT tolerated!

Don't Quit Your Game
When you are in a game you must NOT QUIT by leaving your opponent at the table alone. Many Grizzly members are excellent chess players. They strive to learn and develop their chess game to the best of their ability. You must offer a draw or resign in a polite manner and then leave the table. You must always strive to give your best when playing chess. If you lose a game take the loss with pride and remember that chess players learn most from our mistakes. Reading chess books, and watching other's games are also excellent ways of learning chess.

Discussing Games
Kibitzing, or discussing moves and strategy during a game are common with Club members. Be sure to ask permission of both players first...as some games are more hotly contested than others! Grizzlies should not change their nic. If it becomes necessary to change your nic, first inform Grizzlyloco, Grizzlylar1 or a panel member. With our growing club there is a lot of time spent maintaining the member list. If you fail to inform us you will be subject to a reprimand or may be banned from the club.

Reprimands
The panel members rarely give reprimands. A reprimand is a warning. Three warnings mean a club ban. A warning is given when a member is severely out of line and their behaviour is intentionally disturbing, hurtful or irritating to other Grizzly members. Such behavior is not acceptable and in severe cases may cause you to be banned from the club. Grizzly Chess members need to get five votes from their fellow members and 2 panel votes to ban someone from the club. It is not acceptable behaviour to attempt to have another Grizzly banned just because of clashes of personality. One of the founding principles of this club is to learn to live with one another and be tolerant of each others personal habits and idiosyncracies. Grizzlyloco and GrizzlyLar1 have the proprietary right to reprimand or ban a Grizzly member from the club without a panel or Grizzly member's approval. Grizzlyloco and GrizzlyLar1 are the founders of the club and as such will be respected by all members.

Solving Disagreements
Should there be any disagreements between Grizzly members, first speak calmly and clearly with that Grizzly with whom you have the problem. ( Keep copies and screen shots of conversations and emails, if necessary). If you are unable to solve the issue in private contact one or more panel members. Calmly explain the situation and ask them to act as mediator in order to effect a solution. After reflection and possible consultation the panel members will suggest solutions to the matter. If after taking these steps you still havent resolved the problem, you may put your case to the founders, Loco or Lar. Should any Grizzly prove disrespectful or consistently problematic they may be asked to give up their Grizzly nic. Under no circumstances will public name-calling, complaining, harrassment, slander or rumour-creation and promoting be tolerated. Remember, you are part of a Family to which you owe loyalty, allegiance and respect. Similarly, should any Grizzly member be attacked by a distinctly *un* friendly internet user, all fellow Grizzlys would be expected to back their Family member and effect a concise and long-standing solution to the conflict.

Use Your Grizzly ID
It is preferable that all members wear their Grizzly handler I.D. all the time. This is especially important when you first become a member of the Grizzly family as other members are getting to know you. You have joined Grizzly Chess because we are the best online club. As a member you have the privilege of having hundreds of members and friends. You will notice many people coming to see you play chess because they know the Grizzly members are some of the best chess players on the Internet. Be respectful to all your Grizzly family. People will look upon you as an Ambassador of our Club. Wear your name with pride and be aware that you represent some of the best chess players, and some of the nicest people on the internet.

A NOTE ABOUT OUR DETRACTORS
There are a great many people who desire to be in our club . You may have become aware of "copycat" chess clubs and individuals who will attempt to tarnish our name. Some of them will attack you verbally when they know you are considering joining our Club. Some have tried to join our club and were ejected for their disturbing behavior. Some have even changed their name to our club name without application and were found to be imposters(people that wear grizzly nic but are not in our club). You should think very carefully about the *intentions* of all people you meet in life, especially those online. Online it is much easier for people who wish to misguide or instigate harm or trouble to appear to be something they are not. You should strive to be aware of the nature and personalities of those you associate with and to act accordingly. You should always have the best interests of the Grizzly family at heart while you represent us. Remember others perceive you as an ambassador of our family.
